US Open Final LIVE – Carlos Alcaraz US Open: Alcaraz endured a tough route to his maiden Grand Slam final as in his last three matches he had to play a marathon five-setter against Marin Cilic, Jannik Sinner and Frances Tiafoe. He has spent a total of 14 hours on those matches with the match aganinst Jannik Sinner in the semifinal becoming the longest game ever played in the history of the US Open. Though Alcarazz was a live-wire in all those matches it remains to be seen whether fatigue will have a role to play in the crucial final.

While it remains a concern, Alcaraz’s physical and mental game has been top notch in the last fortnight and he has shown great energy on the court, constantly challenging his opponents without showing any pressure and won some very crucial point at critical junctures to reach to this level. He will look to attack Casper Ruud with the same intensity he has shown so far.

If he gets the title, he will also create history by becoming the first-ever teenager to become the World No.1. Speaking about it he said, “Well the final is close. But at the same time is so far away yo know?. It’s a final of a Grand Slam, fighting for the World No.1 in the world, something that I dream since I was a kid.”

“It’s the final of a Grand Slam. Right now I’m going to enjoy this moment. My first Grand Slam final. I will have tomorrow to think about winning the title,” he added.

Casper Ruud US Open: Casper Ruud meanwhile enters the contest after clinching a comfortable four-set victory over Karen Khachanov in the semifinal of the US Open to make his maiden appearance in the final of  a Hard Court major. The World No.7, who is the fifth seed in the tournament has shown great tenacity this year to reach to this level. Having been deemed as a clay court specialist, the Norwegian has improved his game drastically on the hard courts this year as he now eyes the big prize.

Throughout the tournament, Ruud has played a five-setter only once whcih came in the third round against Tommy Paul. He has however played three four setters against Tim van Rijthoven in the second round, Corentin Moutet in the fourth round and against Khachanov much recently and is now aiming to defeat Alcaraz for the first time and jump to the No.1 spot in the world.

After entering the final Ruud said, “After Roland Garros, I was extremely happy but of course humble enough to think that could be my only final at a Grand Slam in my career. It doesn’t come easy, but here I am back again after a couple of months later,” If Ruud, wins the final, he will also qualify for the ATP Tour finals and will become only the third player after Rafael Nadal and Alcaraz to have qualified for the tournament.
