Al-Ittihad SET EYES on Chelsea’s star player as they close in on signing of Karim Benzema
N’Golo Kante has been linked to a move to Al-Ittihad in Saudi Pro League.
It looks as though the Saudi Pro League is now becoming MLS. Every player who is on the verge of reaching the end of their career has now decided to move and play in the Saudi Pro League. First, it was Cristiano Ronaldo. Now, it seems to be Karim Benzema. And reports indicate that N’golo Kante might also join the league in the Middle East. The Chelsea midfielder has not had the best of seasons at the Stamford Bridge and now is looking at other avenues for his future.
Kante is reportedly close to joining Al Ittihad of the Saudi Pro League. Representatives of Al Ittihad will go to London this week, to confer with the Frenchman’s entourage. Given that Kante’s Chelsea contract is slated to expire at the end of this month, the Tigers are optimistic that a deal will be reached swiftly.
Kante moved to Chelsea from Leicester in 2016 for £30 million, and he has already made 269 appearances for the west London club. He was only able to play in nine games this season because of a bad hamstring injury.
The Frenchman is now expected to link-up with his international teammate Karim Benzema at Al Ittihad. On Sunday morning, Los Blancos announced that Karim Benzema would not be extending his contract and would be leaving the club after 14 years.
More stars heading to Saudi Arabia?
According to the source, negotiations between Al-Ittihad and Kante’s side have been ongoing for days with the goal of quickly reaching an agreement. This summer, more star players might travel to Saudi Arabia, where Cristiano Ronaldo is currently playing for Al-Nassr.
