AIFF v Supreme Court:  The Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) have appointed Sunando Dhar as the Officer on Special Duty to assist in day to day affairs of the AIFF. The Committee of Administrators (CoA) appointed by the Supreme Court have named AIFF’s CEO of Leagues, Sunando Dhar as the Officer on Special Duty following Praful Patel’s resignation. Dhar will assist in day to day affairs at Football House as AIFF races against time to stop an impending ban from FIFA.

The decision to appoint Dhar came after AIFF General Secretary Kushal Das has called a meeting of its state units on Sunday in the aftermath of the Supreme Court’s order to remove Praful Patel as president and the constitution of a Committee of Administrators (CoA) to run its day-to-day affairs.

Earlier, a meeting between all 25 state associations on Saturday, with the future of Indian football being the topic of discussion. As AIFF’s constitution is yet to be drafted and completed, therefore to facilitate the process a 7-membered body has been formed to scrutinize this process.

While Dhar has been appointed on special duty until the constitution is adopted and the AIFF elections take place, Das will continue in his post as General Secretary. One of the members of the CoA, S Y Quraishi had told PTI that Das can continue in his job. Das is a paid official and not an elected member of the erstwhile executive committee led by Patel, who is also currently the president of the Western India Football Association.
