AFC Asian Cup 2023 Draw: India was assigned to Group B in the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 draw in Doha, Qatar. The Blue Tigers, who are currently ranked 101 in the FIFA Rankings, will take part in the contest for the sixth time. Sunil Chhetri & co, will compete against the 29th-ranked Australia, the 74th-ranked Uzbekistan, and the 90th-ranked Syria. “It’s a tough draw. It’s a tough group to be working with, but i firmly believe we should be able to finish in the Top 2. ” Former India Captain and international Bhaichung Bhutia asserted EXCLUSIVELY to Insidesport.IN.

“Australia is a more physically demanding squad. Therefore, I believe that this contingent’s physical impact would be the more challenging aspect of it. Thus, it will be India’s greatest challenge. However, I think India can advance. ” added Bhutia, who himself played against Australia back in 2011 in the very same tournament. india were defeated by a score of 4-0 by the Socceroos.

Resonating to Bhutia’s confidence in I ndia overcoming the challenges and qualifying for the next round, former teammate Gaurmangi Singh added his views upon the draw.

” I think it was gonna be again, competitive . Syria and Australia, are diffixult teams, but we have played against those things in last few years, I believe that we can we can qualify from the group if we push the limits. “ said Gaurmangi Singh to Insidesport.IN

“Having the experience of playing in 2011, the tournament itself along with Sunil and Gurpeet who have played the tournament in the last decade or so. I hope they can also they get a lot of time together to prepare in the best way possible. If we can get our best and I think we can give ourselves a chance.” he added.

Former India Cpatain and AIFF Executive Committee member, Shabbir Ali also offered his thoughts over the draw. Ali strongly believes that the Asian Cup 2023 is the stage for Indian footballers to showcase the growth that they have had over the years.

” It is a tough group for India, Syria and Uzbekistan can also give tough competition to India as much as Australia. However, I believe India will put up a good show. ” said Shabbir.

“The Indian footballers have considerably performed really good in the Indian Super League but now it their time to do something at a bigger stage. Indian Football has seen a lot of growth in the recent years and now it is the time to reflect upon it.” he added.
