WTC Final 2023: Cameron Green – India have got an early advantage heading into World Test Championship (WTC) Final against Australia as star all-rounder Cameron Green suffered an injury to his arm. During MI’s run-chase against GT, Hardik Pandya’s 146 Kmph delivery hit Green right below the elbow. The Australian walked out of the field screeching in pain. However, Green came to bat again at the fall of the third wicket, giving MI & Australia hope, but as of now, the all-rounder’s injury status is not known. Kevin Pietersen in the commentary box said, “This might be a little bit worse than a bruise.”

With a 10-day gap between IPL final and WTC match, Australia would be hoping the injury to Green is not a serious one. The 23-year-old is an important player for Australia with bat and ball.
The all-rounder is coming off a phenomenal IPL 2023 season for MI, scoring 452 runs and picking six wickets. Green also had a good Border Gavaskar Trophy preceding the IPL, wherein he scored his maiden Test ton in Ahmedabad.
Apart from his vital contribution in the batting department, Green also is pretty useful with ball in hand. The lanky all-rounder teams up with Nathan Lyon in the middle overs and gives some much-needed rest to Australia’s pacers- Cummins, Starc, and Hazlewood.

Meanwhile, India have also a fair share of injuries ahead of the WTC Final, as Ishan Kishan suffered a freakish injury to the left side of his forehead. During GT’s innings, the southpaw collided with Chris Jordan, leaving the wicketkeeper batter in much pain.
Kishan also did not come to bat in MI’s run chase, leaving India uncertain about his availability for the WTC Finale. The southpaw is the back wicketkeeper to KS Bharat in the 15-member squad.
As of now, the status of Green and Kishan’s availability for WTC Final remains in doubt. Both teams will now monitor their player’s recovery in coming few days.
