Indian pairing of Manav Thakkar and Manush Shah smoothly advanced to the men’s doubles quarter-finals in the WTT Star Contender Goa 2024. They secured a comfortable victory against Indonesia’s Pang Yew En Koen and Avatar Quek Izaac at the Peddem Indoor Stadium in Mapusa, Goa. The Gujarat-based duo dominated the round-of-16 encounter with an 11-7, 11-9, 11-5 triumph, drawing applause from the supportive crowd.
Adding to the Indian success, Maharashtra’s Taneesha Kotecha and Sayali Wani progressed to the women’s doubles quarter-finals by overcoming the Swedish pair of Christina Kallberg and Filippa Bergand in a competitive match, securing an 11-9, 4-11, 11-8, 11-7 victory. Their next challenge awaits against South Korea’s Jeon Jihee and Shin Yubin.

In women’s singles, India’s Archana Kamath secured a spot in the Round-of-32 by defeating Spain’s Maria Xiao with scores of 11-7, 13-11, 12-10. Another Indian player, Sreeja Akula, brought further joy by defeating Camille Lutz of France in the first round.
However, in men’s singles, India’s Harmeet Desai faced an early exit in a closely contested match against Croatia’s Andrej Gacina. Jeet Chandra, Ajali Rohilla, and Nithya Mani also had challenging encounters resulting in losses in their respective categories during the event co-hosted by Stupa Sports Analytics and Ultimate Table Tennis under the guidance of the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI).
