Everybody loves the Suzuka circuit. It is one of the old-school circuits in Formula 1 and drivers love the high-speed nature of the circuit. Lewis Hamilton is one of them. He absolutely adores the track and the country. This is why he has revealed a special helmet design for the Japanese GP, complete with the Mercedes logo. His design is very different from Fernando Alonso.
The Helmet Design
Lewis Hamilton has designed this helmet in collaboration with Hajime Sorayama, a Japanese illustrator. The wonderful people at teamLab Planets have brought it to life for the Japanese GP. They are a Tokyo-based company which deal in such designs.
The Mercedes man’s helmet prominently features a glowing visor. The glow comes from an LED strip. Lewis Hamilton will probably not be able to race with that LED strip on. This is because a source of light like that can be a distraction on track and a safety hazard.
Apart from the LED strip, the helmet is completely chrome with the Mercedes logo emblazoned in the middle. Even without the LED, this helmet will be one to watch out for on track at the Japanese GP.

Fan Reactions
Lewis Hamilton took to social media to reveal this helmet. He captioned it “Man vs Machine”. It has received largely positive reactions.
Fans have called it ‘out of this world’, ‘alien-like’, and ‘the coolest design ever’. A lot of fans have commented on the helmet’s similarity to legendary French music duo Daft Punk. Some fans have even made the connection to the futuristic movie Tron.
It will be amazing to see Lewis Hamilton drive his Mercedes around Suzuka at the Japanese GP with this helmet.
Lewis Hamilton not Alone
Lewis Hamilton is not the only Formula 1 driver to reveal a special helmet for the Japanese GP. As we said, it is one of the most popular tracks on the Formula 1 calendar.
