Hillsborough Disaster: Chelsea fans chant ‘vile chants’ about Hillsborough; Liverpool, Premier League call for end to these chants, CHECK OutBritain’s worst sporting tragedy occurred at the 1989 FA Cup semifinal, where 97 Liverpool fans died in a crush in an overcrowded, fenced-in area. One victim, who had suffered serious and permanent brain damage, passed away in July 2021.

Liverpool tweeted about the incident too. They said, ‘We know the impact these vile chants have on those who continue to suffer as a result of football tragedies. For their sake, this has to stop.’ Chelsea apologized and said “hateful chanting has no place in football”.

Premier League too were quick to condemn the chants and voice their concern. The official PL twitter account tweeted, ‘The Premier League condemns the tragedy chanting heard at tonight’s match between Chelsea and Liverpool. We continue to treat this as an unacceptable issue and are seeking to address it as a priority.’
