Pakistan's Fatima Sana finished with 11 wickets in the Women's T20 World Cup, and is soon rising as a formidable pacer.

Even though the Pakistani team might have been poor at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, the stocks of skipper Fatima Sana have grown exponentially. It was during the tournament that was picked for The Hundred — Birmingham Phoenix, and now might miss Pakistan’s T20I series against Sri Lanka.

Fatima Sana prioritises The Hundred over national duty

As per a report in ESPN.in, the PCB has granted the necessary permission to the all-rounder, to appear in The Hundred. This happens to be the very first time, that a PAK women’s cricketer will feature in the tournament. The Hundred is set to start of July 21, while Fatima Sana will be around for the ODI series.

It is important to note that she comes in as a replacement to Australia’s Lucy Hamilton, at a minimum salary of £15,000. As far as Sana’s performances in the World Cup are concerned, she was undoubtedly her team’s best player. IN a league match against South Africa, she scored a fighting 55, when her side was around 50/8. She then returned with figures of 3/16 as well.

Had a decent ICC Women’s T20 World Cup

In the match vs India, she brought out her A game again, and bagged 2/33. Again, in the Netherlands match, she was very effective as she bagged figures of 3/12, that was instrumental in handing their only win the World Cup.

In all she bagged 11 wickets in 5 matches, where he economy rate was only 6.95. In fact, she finished the tournament as the joint second-highest wicket-taker along with Sophie Molineux; behind India’s Shree Charani. Sana had earlier played in the CPL for Barbados Royals, and for Canterbury in the Super Smash.

Full Squad Birmingham Phoenix: Tammy Beaumont, Cordeila Griffith, Davina Perrin, Jemima Spence, Alice Capsey, Alana King, Emma Lamb, Ellyse Perry, Phoebe Brett, Lauren Filer, Eva Gray, Linsey Smith, Fatima Sana, Esmae MacGregor, Eve O’Neill.
