Beth Mooney is the only player after Virat Kohli to win a Player of the Tournament award twice at T20 World Cups (men or women).

Some cricketers perform under pressure. Some rise when the pressure is at its highest. And then there is Beth Mooney, who seems to reserve her very best for the moments where even the best of them can also struggle. On a sunlit afternoon at Lord’s, with a packed crowd watching Australia chase history, Mooney once again did what she does the best. Her match-winning 64 off 49 balls against England not only guided Australia to a record-extending seventh Women’s T20 World Cup title but also helped her achieve a feat no player in tournament history had managed before.

The Australian opener was named both Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament after another stellar campaign. Having already won the Player of the Tournament award during Australia’s victorious 2020 campaign, Mooney became the first player ever to win the honour twice in Women’s T20 World Cup history.

Another final, another fifty. That’s Mooney’s story now. Three successive fifties in Women’s T20 World Cup finals. No woman, no man, has done it before. While finals tend to trip up the best, Mooney’s scores have actually climbed each time she’s walked out. She finished the 2026 edition with 238 runs in 7 games, averaging 47.60 at a strike rate of 142.51. Only Wyatt-Hodge had more runs in the tournament. And with 5 dismissals as wicketkeeper, she showed again why Australia lean on her in both roles. Her keeping was on point in the final as well.

Mooney now owns the record for the most runs in Women’s T20 World Cup knockout matches. Across 10 innings, she has accumulated 424 runs at an astonishing average of 70.66 and a strike rate of 132.91, while also registering five half-centuries. No batter in the history of the tournament has scored more runs in the business end of the competition.

Her tally puts her ahead of some of Australia’s greatest names. Meg Lanning sits second with 407 knockout runs, while Alyssa Healy is third with 299.

On Sunday, England posted a competitive 150/4, but Mooney never allowed panic to enter the chase. She struck 10 boundaries, rotated strike effortlessly and ensured Australia remained ahead of the asking rate throughout the pursuit. Her knokc helped Australia complete the highest successful chase in a Women’s T20 World Cup final, reaching 153/3 with 17 balls to spare.
