Australia lift ICC Women’s T20 World Cup

Team Australia have ended their so called trophy drought, as they notched their 7th ICC Women’s T20 World Cup on Sunday, beating hosts England by 7 wickets. Just about every bowler contributed with the ball, while with the bat it was Beth Mooney who led the way with 49-ball 64. She was helped by Phoebe Litchfield, who smashed 48 from 35 deliveries, making look the 151-run target very easy.

Gurnoor Brar’s 10-wicket haul sinks SL A

The IND A team won the SL A unofficial Test series 1-0. And that happened because of India’s new pace star Gurnoor Brar, bagging 10 wickets in the match. In the first innings he ended with four, and helped IND A restrict the opposition to 366. Then in the second, he picked up six, bundling Lankan side for 209. Eventually the team was set a target of 36, which they achieved without any hiccups.

Babar Azam is new Pakistan Test skipper

The musical chairs in Pakistan cricket continues, as Shan Masood was removed from the position of Test skipper. Instead Babar Azam will take charge now. Masood lost 12 of the 16 matches he led in. The Pakistan team is due to play West Indies and England from July-September.

Men’s Asia Cup dates locked, Bangladesh stay on as hosts

Even though last year’s Asia Cup saw a series of dramas unfold, which raised questions on the existence of the tournament, now it seems the Asia Cup 2027 will take place.. in Bangladesh as planned. That will serve as a precursor to the World Cup 2027, slated to be held between June 18 and July 4, 2027, as per Express Tribune.

Team India need to rope in Rajat Patidar

Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan has suggested that the Indian T20I team needs to look at Rajat Patidar as a serious option. “Looking at the number of left-hand batters in the Indian T20 team right now, it’s even more of a reason for Team India to look at Rajat Patidar going forward. I really hope he gets an opportunity, especially since there is still plenty of time for Team India to experiment before the next T20 World Cup,” Pathan wrote on X.

Indian batters can’t play spin

One of the biggest reasons for India’s failure in Tests, in the recent times is, the batters’ inability to tackle spin in sub-continent conditions. During the defeats against New Zealand and South Africa in the last two years, none of the present India batsmen were able to tackle the opposition spinners. Read more.
