The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup is in its final stages, in fact, the summit clash is to be played on Sunday between hosts England and Australia, at the iconic Lord’s. Contrary to the expectations, the hosts have come up with a near-perfect show, while the Aussies are looking for their first title since 2023. Winning the title, and finishing runners-up can make a huge difference, not just for the morale of the respective teams, but also monetarily. So, it is only important to look at the money each team will take home after the tournament.
Winning team to get INR 22 Cr
For starters, from the last edition in 2024 to now, the prize money for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup has gone up by 10%. Earlier it was at $7,958,077, and has been increased to $8,764,615 (approx. ₹83.4 crore). So, how much will the winners make? Well, just like 2024, the winners will get $2,340,000 (approx. ₹22.28 crore). And the prize money for the other teams has gone up. That means, the finalists get $1,170,000 (approx. ₹11.14 crore).
Going further down, the two losing semi-finalists team (South Africa and West Indies) will receive $675,000 (approx. ₹6.42 crore) each. As far as the teams who finished their campaign in the group stages is concerned, they will get a minimum prize money of $247,500 (approx. ₹2.35 crore) each. That is not it. Each win in the group stages will bring a bonus of $31,154 (approx. ₹30.00 lakh).
How much money will Team India make in ICC Women’s T20 World Cup?
Out of the 5 matches played, Harmanpreet Kaur‘s India won three matches in all – against Pakistan, Bangladesh and Netherlands. That is an addition of almost INR 90 lakh, to their existing assured prize money of 2.35 Crore. So, it wouldn’t be wrong to say, that the team combined will be richer by INR 3.25 crore. This money will of course be divided among the players and the support staff.
Even though they looked good in patches, the biggest problem that emerged for the team was, their blunt pace attack, and woeful catching. As a result, they lost crucial matches against South Africa and Australia, despite being in winning situations.
