Former Under-19 India captain Prithvi Shaw has been accused of cheating by his fiancee after she put up a story on her Instagram.

Just four months after announcing their engagement, Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw and social media influencer Akriti Agarwal have found themselves in the middle of online speculation following a cryptic social media post shared by Akriti.

The rumours are afloat after Akriti allegedly posted a message on Instagram suggesting that she had been “cheated on so many times” and had chosen to remain silent despite it. She also reportedly wrote, “Everything is true; every rumour is true. What you see on social media about him.”

Screenshots of the post quickly went viral across social media platforms. However, it is important to note that Akriti did not mention Shaw by name anywhere in the post, nor has she publicly confirmed that the message was directed at the cricketer.

Nothing official yet for Prithvi Shaw

As of now, there has been no official statement from either Shaw or Akriti regarding the matter. Interestingly, Akriti continues to follow Shaw on Instagram and their engagement photographs remain visible on both profiles. The news of both unfollowing each other is false.

The couple had announced their engagement in March 2026 on International Women’s Day. Sharing a series of pictures together, Shaw had referred to Akriti as his “perfect innings,” with the post receiving congratulatory messages from fans and several members of the cricket fraternity.

While the personal rumours continue to attract attention online, Shaw’s cricketing career has also been going through a challenging phase. Once considered one of India’s brightest young batting talents after leading the country to the 2018 Under-19 World Cup title, the Mumbai batter has become a footnote.

After going unsold in the IPL 2025 auction, Shaw returned to the tournament in 2026 when Delhi Capitals signed him for ₹75 lakh. However, he did not feature in a single match throughout the season despite the franchise opting to use as many as four different opening options. DC, in fact, debuted Sahil Parakh over Shaw, who warmed the bench throughout.

Akriti, meanwhile, has built a following of over 3 million (on Instagram) as a social media influencer and recently made her acting debut in the film Trimukha.
