BCCI to conduct Emerging Men’s Tournament from July 4-26 in CoE in hunt for future Test stars

This is an attempt by the BCCI to identify promising young talents who could potentially go on to play Test cricket for India in the future.

In a bid to unearth fresh talents and groom them in the longest format of the game, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is planning to conduct a domestic red-ball tournament between July 4 to July 26. The Emerging Men’s tournament will be held at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru which will see four teams taking on each other in fur-day matches. This is an attempt by the BCCI to identify promising young talents who could potentially go on to play Test cricket for India in the future.

Emerging Men’s tournament to be held at BCCI’s CoE

As per the Times of India, the Emerging Men’s Tournament will see four teams play three matches each between July 4 to 26, with each game set to last for 4 days. All matches will take place at the BCCI’s CoE in the Karnataka capital. U-25 stars, who have represented India in age group cricket and are rising faces in domestic cricket have been named as captains for the four sides.

Uday Saharan, the man who captained India U19 in the 2024 World Cup and was recently elevated as Punjab’s captain in 2025, has been named the skipper of Team A. Newly-appointed Hyderabad mentor and former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer will be the mentor for the team. Sourashish Lahiri will be the assistant coach.

Karnataka’s Smaran Ravichandran, who has been a regular for the domestic side in the last two years, will lead Team B. He is currently a part of the Maharaja Trophy 2026. Former Indian cricketer Ramesh Powar is the head coach for Team B, with Anshu Jain serving as the assistant coach.

Team C will be led by 23-year-old Yash Dhull. The youngster from Delhi captained the India U19 side in the 2022 World Cup and led the side to the title. Team D will be led by Himateja K, with Debasish Mohanty serving as head coach and Vinit Indulkar as the assistant coach.
