The fever for the FIFA World Cup 2026 is at all-time high. While some giants have already been knocked out, France have continuously dominated. And to witness their dominance, star India batter Yashasvi Jaiswal took his time and watched the Round of 32 game between France and Sweden at the New York New Jersey Stadium in East Rutherford.
Yashasvi Jaiswal joins FIFA World Cup craze
Jaiswal, who isn’t part of the current white-ball tour of England, is enjoying his time off. He joined the FIFA World Cup bandwagon, watching the knockout match that enthralled many fans. He shared the crazy experience on his Instagram, captioning the video ‘Bucket List’, suggesting that one of his wishes finally came true as he witnessed the most watched sporting spectacle of all time.
Fascinatingly, Jaiswal was seen sporting the jersey of Argentina, with, of course, Lionel Messi written on his back. It is quite suprising since the two teams involved in the match were France and Sweden. While France’s match was on June 30 (in the USA), Argentina plays on July 3 against Cape Verde in their Round of 32. It remains to be seen if Jaiswal turns up for that game too at the Miami Garden in Florida.
Talking about the game, Kylian Mbappe once again stole the limelight as his brace helped the two-time champs maul Sweden 3-0. Although the Swedish side had Viktor Gyökeres and Alexander Isak, they couldn’t do anything against France, who are the hot favourites to win the World Cup. Bradley Barcola scored the other goal for the Les Bleus.
As far as Jaiswal is concerned, he has a bit of free time under his belt. After all, he remains part of just the Indian Test team. While he featured in the last ODI series against Afghanistan, he isn’t part of the ODI squad selected for the three one-day internationals against England. With Virat Kohli getting fit for the series, there was no room for Jaiswal, as Indian management prefers the opening duo of Shubman Gill and ROhit Sharma.
