New Zealand Cricket have announced their 15-member squad for the upcoming five-match ODI series against West Indies, scheduled to commence from July 11. The series will mark the start of preparations for the ODI World cup 2027 for both the sides. While Jacob Duffy will return to action in the series, a host of experienced players have been left out of the squad owing to workload management, injuries and personal reasons.

Pacers Kyle Jamieson, Matt Henry, and Will O’Rourke, who were a part of the ENG vs NZ Test series, will not be a part of the ODI series against West Indies due to workload management. The NZ side will be led by Mitchell Santner. Blair Tickner, who was ruled out of the ENG vs NZ 3rd Test due to a concussion, is also out due to an ankle injury for which he requires a surgery. Meanwhile, Devon Conway has been granted leave due to personal reasons.
Rachin Ravindra has been given some time off so that he can take part in the Major League Cricket (MLC 2026). Matthew Fisher is in line to make his ODI debut as he has been included in the squad.
New Zealand coach Rob Walter expressed eagerness to see Fisher and Duffy in action.
“It’s great to have Jacob and Matt joining the group and I know they’ll bring a lot of energy and excitement. It’s a nice opportunity to introduce Matt to the ODI group for the first time. He bowls with good pace and has been working hard on his variations to ensure he can bowl at different stages of the innings,” Walter said.
