Punjab Kings (PBKS) batter Shashank Singh and his father, Shailesh Singh, a retired Special Director General of Police (DGP), have been accused of assault and verbal abuse. According to Dainik Bhaskar, Shashank’s family cook, Vipendra Singh Tomar, has lodged a First Information Report (FIR) at the Ratibad Police Station in Bhopal on June 29.

According to the cook, the cricketer’s family wasn’t pleased with the food Vipendra had prepared and abused him. Following that, the cook decided to quit the job. However, he alleged that his phone was confiscated and he was forced to work despite his refusal.
Fearing for his safety, Vipendra locked himself inside a room. But Shashank, his father Shailesh, and their driver Mishra somehow managed to enter the room and assaulted him, which resulted in injuries to his face and body. The cook alleges his phone wasn’t returned even then.
Bhopal Police have recorded statements of the complainant and witnesses, and an investigation is underway under Sections 296(B), 115(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Before accepting the job at Shashank’s residence in Neelbad, the cook was promised a monthly salary of INR 15,000 alongside food and lodging and was promised to help him get a government job.
Upon joining, the accused stated that he was made to work tirelessly and witnessed the other cook being verbally abused. He urged the family to leave but was questioned about it, due to which he continued working.
