Australia will continue playing under the captaincy of Josh Inglis as the squad for the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh has been announced. The series is slated to commence from June 9 and will be followed by a three-match T20I series as well. Marsh, who missed the previous series against Pakistan due to an injury, has been excluded from the squad while Travis Head also misses out.

Australia selector Tony Dodemaide revealed that while they expected Marsh to recover in time for the Bangladesh ODIs, he is yet to return to full fitness. The all-rounder suffered an ankle injury towards the end of the IPL, which saw him miss the series against Pakistan as well. However, Marsh has been named as the T20I captain and will join the side in Dhaka to commence preparations for the series.
“We were hopeful Mitch Marsh would be available for the Bangladesh ODI series however he is still returning to full fitness from an ankle injury. Mitch will join the group in Dhaka and begin preparations for the T20I Series,” said national selector Tony Dodemaide.
Meanwhile, Travis Head will miss the series due to personal reasons. The national selector stated that the opener was initially selected for both the ODIs and T20Is, but was later granted leave. Tanveer Sangha picked up a hamstring injury in Lahore, and therefore won’t be a part of the Bangladesh series. He has been replaced by Todd Murphy.
Oliver Peake, who became the youngest Australian to make an ODI debut earlier, has been retained in the squad, along with Matt Short. Australia’s pace attack will be spearheaded by Xavier Bartlett, and will comprise of Ben Dwarshuis and Nathan Ellis.
