GT might have lost the qualifier 1 against RCB the other day, in a poor fashion, but the Shubman Gill-led team isn’t the one to bow down meekly. That too at stage, where the title isn’t far. They still have a chance to make it to the final, as they face RR in the qualifier 2 on Friday.
R Ashwin speaks with certainty
While the loss might have impacted their confidence just a bit, former India off-spinner R Ashwin, who is quite an accurate reader of the game, feels that not only GT will enter the final, but will beat RCB in the summit clash. Such was his confidence, that he was willing to write down the outcome of the match as well.
GT to win qualifier 2 and IPL 2026 final
“GT will 100% beat RR all the way. I can give it in writing. And if GT qualify for the final, they are winning the trophy for sure. They’ve the Ahmedabad track measured to an inch. GT will win their second title. RCB’s only hope is to catch a flight and stop GT in Mullanpur itself because they’ve no chance in Ahmedabad,” Ashwin said on his YouTube channel.
As far as the league stages record is concerned, RR won their fixture in Ahmedabad, while GT won in Jaipur. Ashwin also added, that even though RR might just look like the better side, from the playing XI point-of-view, Gill and his team still hold the edge.
“The truth is RR should beat GT in Qualifier 2 in terms of analysis. Yet, GT will win. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will be a massive factor, but he knows he has to be careful against Siraj and Rabada. Even though he scored some in the two matches against GT, he didn’t go helter-skelter. He has to surely score and I want him to but I strongly believe GT are winning,” added Ashwin.
