Afghanistan cricket team have announced the squads for the one-off Test and the three-match ODI series against India. The sides for both series will be led by Hashmatullah Shahidi. Rashid Khan, who one of AFG’s most experienced player, will not be a part of one-off Test against India. Instead, he will be part of the three-match ODI series.
Afghanistan squad for one-off Test, ODI series vs India out
Rashid Khan, who returned from injury after going under the knife after the 2023 ODI World Cup, had earlier revealed that he had been advised by the doctor not to take part in the longer format of the game. Therefore, he is not a part of the one-off Test against India, which commences just days after the conclusion of IPL 2026. But he will be a part of the Afghanistan squad for the three-match ODI series. Rashid is a part of GT, who are playing the Qualifier 1 against RCB in Dharamshala on Tuesday.
“ODIs, yes, I enjoy, and I’m in good shape to play ODIs for a longer period of time for Afghanistan, but just to be careful with how many I play, and not to put too much load on myself, to be careful if I want to play for a longer period of time,” Rashid had said earlier.

The one-off Test against India isn’t a part of the World Test Championship (WTC 2025/27) cycle. However, the three-match ODI series will mark the start of preparations for both sides for the 2027 ODI World Cup.
