Indian hockey team star Manpreet Singh has invited Virat Kohli and his RCB team for a combined training session where the two sides can compete.

Indian hockey team star Manpreet Singh has urged Virat Kohli and the entire RCB team to join his side for a training session where the two units could face off against each other and prove which team is fitter. Kohli is well known for maintaining his fitness, and is, in fact, the most fit Indian cricketer at present. With a best score of 21.6 to date, Virat has always emerged as the best among other Indian cricketers who have taken the Yo-Yo Test, which was made mandatory by the BCCI during the former’s reign as captain. Now, he has a fresh challenge.

Virat Kohli, RCB challenged by hockey team

In an interview with RevSportz, Manpreet Singh challenged Virat and his RCB teammates to join the Indian hockey team for a training session where the two sides could compete. While the benchmark set by the BCCI for a Yo-Yo test is 16.5, the hockey team star revealed that the hockey team has higher standards and requirements, with the goalkeeper expected to clock at least a score of 21 while the rest of the players usually go way beyond that score. Now, just days after Kohli spoke about how the fitness demands of the hockey team is more than the cricket team, Manpreet has responded to that statement.

Obviously. We want to invite Virat and the entire RCB team to come and do a training session with us. We will compete against each other“, Manpreet said.

What Virat Kohli had said?

Cricket is in such prime focus in our country that we often overlook other sports. If I am being honest, we aren’t even 15% of the fitness of an Indian hockey player. If the hockey players watch our training sessions, they would laugh because their sport demands far more,” Kohli said during an interview.

What is the Yo-yo Test?

The Yo-Yo Intermittent Recovery Test is a test where athletes’ fitness is measured. It is a repetitive test where the athletes’ ability to perform an intense workout is measured in a repetitive manner. This test is crucial in measuring a player’s aerobic capacity and recovery ability.

The test starts after the players have a proper warm-up. The athletes are then tasked to run a short distance of 20 meters. They begin at a slow pace. But after each round, they continue to increase the pace. After every run, the players have a very small recovery phase. The test stops when the player can’t continue to maintain the pace due to fatigue.
