The BCCI on Wednesday announced the schedule for the upcoming IND A vs AUS A series & the IND U19 vs AUS U19 series’, which are to be played in India, simultaneously. Both of them begin in September, at different venues across the country, which will give the hopefuls/youngsters, some really good match practice.
These series’ would be a curtain-raiser to the main Border-Gavaskar Trophy, that is scheduled to take place in India in January 2027.
Series to begin in September
As per a release by the BCCI, “India A (Men) will face Australia A in a series featuring two multi-day matches and three one-day games, all scheduled to be played in Puducherry between September and October 2026.The India U19 Men’s team will host Australia U19 for a five-match tour comprising three one-day matches in Rajkot, followed by two multi-day fixtures in Rajkot and Ahmedabad, respectively.”
BCCI to hold camp at CoE to groom Test cricketers
Meanwhile, according to RevSportz, after two failed series at home — vs New Zealand and South Africa, the BCCI is keen to develop the next line of Test cricketers. For that, they would be holding a camp with 55-60 players in June. The first part of the camp began on April 12, and concluded on May 5.
The camp will include new gen cricketers like Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Ayush Mhatre, Priyansh Arya, who would join it after the conclusion of the IPL 2026. There, they would be under the supervision of veteran coaches/ex-cricketers like VVS Laxman, Hrishikesh Kanitkar, Zaheer Khan and L Balaji.
One of the aspects highlighted was, there would be a lot of match simulation drills during the camp; the players will be narrowed down to 25, who would in-turn play a lot of Emerging and A series. Perhaps the players for the IND A vs AUS A, and the U19 series could be picked from here.
