The Gujarat Titans (GT) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have each won the Indian Premier League (IPL) once, and they have often been closely matched. Even though their approaches differ, both teams have managed to find success.
RCB has relied heavily on data, having players of certain attributes and backups for every player. Meanwhile, GT goes with the gut feel. They value talent and quality over depth. They seem short of having backups, but hardly, if ever, need them with the main players stepping up time and again.

Toss key for victory
GT and RCB have faced off 7 times since 2022. Whichever side has chased has ended up winning. Therefore, toss becomes crucial. Teams prefer batting second, since it helps decide the tempo. Unlike when you bat first, one doesn’t feel like they’ve left some runs on the field.
RCB head coach Andy Flower has also confirmed that they expect a good batting track. Returning to the Narendra Modi Stadium for the first time since the IPL 2025 Final, RCB will play on the same pitch where they defeated the Punjab Kings to lift their maiden trophy.
“We’re playing on pitch six, which is a 75% red soil. It’s the same strip that we played the final on last year. And it usually plays very well, that strip. So we’d anticipate it playing very well again,” Flower told reporters in Ahmedabad.

GT vs RCB Match Prediction
RCB has a clear advantage in multiple facets. It’s not just their powerplay batting but batting in general where they are miles ahead. They’ve got designated spin hitters, Rajat Patidar, in the middle and two proven finishers, Tim David and Romario Shepherd. GT is more or less done if the top three don’t click, which hasn’t been the same for RCB.
GT is perhaps the only team that can match RCB’s powerplay bowling. Kagiso Rabada and Mohammed Siraj are a handful. In general, one has to say that GT has better bowling. Prasidh Krishna and Rashid Khan control the middle overs, while Manav Suthar and Ashok Sharma have played roles in the past. RCB might just sneak ahead in the death overs, but not by much.
- Prediction: RCB to beat GT (Bengaluru can easily outhit Gujarat out of the match)
