The Mumbai Indians (MI) have got their final piece that wasn’t available to them. In-form Will Jacks has joined the team after having an extended break after the T20 World Cup 2026. He adds to selection dilemma for MI, meanwhile Ayush Mhatre has been ruled out of IPL 2026. The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), meanwhile, beat the Delhi Capitals (DC) on the back of a superb century by Abhishek Sharma, who now has joint-most T20 centuries.

Abhishek Sharma beats Kohli’s record
Abhishek Sharma finally delivered on expectations, smashing his first IPL 2026 century off just 47 balls against Delhi Capitals. The SRH opener finished unbeaten on 135 from 68 deliveries with 10 fours and 10 sixes, powering his team to 242. The knock took his T20 centuries tally to nine, equalling Virat Kohli for the most by an Indian, but Abhishek reached the mark in only 184 innings compared to Kohli’s364. His strike rate of 174 stands well above Kohli, Rohit, and Rahul. With this innings he also became the first player this season to cross 300 runs, claiming the Orange Cap. Read more here.

Mumbai Indians get a boost
Mumbai Indians (MI) have now received a big boost after Will Jacks rejoined the squad on April 21, after MI ending a four-match losing streak with a 99-run win over Gujarat Titans. The English all-rounder was on personal leave following an intense four-month stretch that included the Ashes, Sri Lanka tour, and a standout T20 World Cup where he scored 226 runs and took nine wickets. Jacks trained at Wankhede ahead of the CSK clash on April 23. His return creates a selection dilemma: MI currently field de Kock, Rutherford, Santner, and Ghazanfar. Jacks and Rutherford play similar roles, so one spinner may make way. Read more here.

Ayush Mhatre out of IPL 2026
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have suffered another setback with Ayush Mhatre ruled out of IPL 2026 due to a left hamstring injury. The top-order batter picked up the injury while running a double against SRH on April 18 and now faces 6-12 weeks of rehab. Mhatre was CSK’s standout with 201 runs in six games at a strike rate of 177.87. There is a huge criticism that CSK let him bat on against SRH despite knowing he has a strain. With Khaleel Ahmed and Nathan Ellis already sidelined, CSK must find a replacement. Read more here.

CSK behind because of Dhoni?
Sanjay Manjrekar believes CSK’s decline comes from an emotional attachment to MS Dhoni and living in the past. Once T20 innovators, CSK have slipped to 5th, 10th, and now 8th in IPL 2026. Manjrekar argues backing big-name players past their prime hurts them. Dhoni averaged just 11.15 balls per match in IPL 2025 and hasn’t played this season due to injury. He says Indian cricket culture breeds sycophancy, making stars immune to criticism. This obsession confuses captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, who gets blame for failures while Dhoni gets credit for wins despite limited impact. Read more here.

Rest for senior India players
BCCI selectors are considering resting senior players like Shubman Gill and Jasprit Bumrah for India’s one-off Test against Afghanistan in June. The match is scheduled for June 6-10, right after the IPL 2026 final, leaving little rest time before three ODIs and a white-ball tour of England. With no WTC points at stake, since Afghanistan isn’t part of WTC, Indian management wants to avoid burnout as players face a packed calendar. A final call will be taken near the IPL’s end. If seniors sit out, domestic standouts Gurnoor Brar, Manav Suthar, Harsh Dubey, Devdutt Padikkal, and Auqib Nabi could earn maiden call-ups based on strong domestic performances. Read more here.

SRH beat DC at Uppal

Nitish Rana scored a 57 for Delhi but they continuously lost wickets that led to their downfall.
