Every time Abhishek Sharma sets foot on the crease, the expectations are sky high. He did score a couple of fifties in between the 6 matches of IPL 2026 — but largely it was a campaign marred with some mediocre scores. But finally that changed in the SRH vs DC encounter on Tuesday, as the opener smashed his first ton of the season in only 47 deliveries.

Abhishek=Virat Kohli in T20s
But then, what was the highlight of this ton was, he now has the joint-most tons for any Indian in T20s – 9 alongside Virat Kohli, that only goes on to show, how good he is. Another striking aspect is, Abhishek took only 184 innings to reach the milestone. The next on the list is Rohit Sharma, who has 8 hundreds in 454 innings, and Ishan Kishan isn’t far behind with 7 in 226 innings. In fact, KL Rahul, Sanju Samson have 7 tons to their name as well.
What also needs to be looked at is — the overall strike-rates of all these batters — with most tons for India in T20s. And no prizes for guessing, Abhishek Sharma tops the list with 174.62. Ishan has the next best SR of 143, while Virat only scores at 135. Sanju scores at 139 and Rahul is at 137.
This innings also meant, Abhishek is the Orange Cap holder, and became the first player in the season to score 300 runs. This is meanwhile his only second ton in the tournament, and his first had come in 2025. As far as the match is concerned, he eventually remained unbeaten in the innings, and ended with 135 in 68 deliveries, hitting 10 fours and as many sixes. SRH scored 242 in 20 overs.
