MS Dhoni and Ayush Mhatre won’t play against the Mumbai Indians (MI). Varun Chakaravarthy is still nursing an injury. Matheesha Pathirana has landed in Kolkata. Blessing Murazabani has demanded that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) overturn his Pakistan Super League (PSL) ban. Lastly, Ajit Agarkar will continue to serve as the chief selector.

MS Dhoni still not fit
MS Dhoni won’t be playing the MI vs CSK match on April 23. CSK batting coach Michael Hussey is unsure of the wicketkeeper’s recovery status and has no information on when Dhoni will play his first match in IPL 2026. Previously, reports had suggested that Dhoni would play against MI.

Ajit Agarkar to continue
The BCCI is expected to renew Ajit Agarkar’s contract until June 2027 for another year as the chairman of the selection committee. Elected in July 2023, Agarkar has seen his contract extend twice already. Under his leadership, India has won three ICC trophies and reached another final.

Ayush Mhatre injury update
Hussey also provided an update on Ayush Mhatre. The youngster had injured himself against SRH and wasn’t even able to leave the field on his own. He stated that Mhatre is yet to undergo scans, but the injury looks severe. In the meantime, reports suggest that he’ll be out of action for at least 3 weeks.

Varun Chakaravarthy bowling with fracture
After claiming a 3-fer against RR, Varun Chakaravarthy revealed that he had sustained multiple fractures on his left hand while taking Abhishek Sharma’s catch in the SRH match, and that’s why he missed 2 games for KKR. The mystery spinner further added that he’s still managing 2 fractures.

Murazabani writes to PCB
Blessing Murazabani’s agent issued a clarification after the fast bowler was banned from the PSL for 2 years for violating his contract to play for KKR. His agent has asked PCB to reverse the ban since Islamabad United hadn’t provided Murazabani with a contract until February 27, despite stating so online. Therefore, he was eligible to sign a contract with KKR and didn’t violate any terms.

Pathirana joins KKR
Matheesha Pathirana has officially joined KKR’s squad. The Sri Lankan fast bowler had already received an NOC from his board, but decided to stay back home to further work on his fitness. Although he didn’t play against RR, it’s expected that he’ll turn up for KKR soon.
