IPL 2026: MS Dhoni is still recovering from a groin issue, and it remains to be seen, if he will participate in the SRH vs CSK clash.

MS Dhoni’s participation in IPL 2026 has continued to generate interest, even after CSK has played 5 matches. Just about every day, there is one report or another talking about his return. On Thursday, two contradictory reports made their way. Chennai are slated to play their next match against SRH on April 18, and it seems Dhoni is all set for the match.

Dhoni fit or unfit?

In fact, as per some videos circulating on social media, MSD was seen travelling to Hyderabad, which is a positive sign in itself. It is important to note that the 44-year-old veteran had opted out from travelling to Bengaluru and Guwahati for the team’s away matches.

Earlier, it was also reported that Dhoni had a calf injury, which was later clarified, was a groin issue. But the buck doesn’t stop there. Now, according to Cricbuzz, Dhoni won’t be participating in the SRH clash. So in short, the mystery only deepens, and would know for sure, only a couple of days later, when Chennai Super Kings take field.

CSK play SRH on April 18

His numbers, participation in the last three seasons has come down significantly, where he has managed to score 101, 164 and 196 runs only. In fact, since the turn of the decade, the highest that he has managed in a season is 232.

As far as their performance is concerned, CSK are on eighth spot in the points table — lost three matches on the trot and are making a comeback of sorts by winning last two. Just recently, they lost Khaleel Ahmed to an injury, and a replacement is yet to be announced.

That would be a major worry for them, given they already are missing out on the services of Australian Nathan Ellis, who was bought for INR 2 Cr.
