Praful Hinge has had a dream Indian Premier League (IPL) debut so far. The Vidarbha pacer has become the only bowler to pick up three wickets in his very first over in the history of the tournament. Hinge, who made his T20 debut in 2025, has fared exceptionally well in his maiden outing for SRH, bagging the wickets of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Dhruv Jurel, Lhuan-dre Pretorius and Rian Parag.
Who is Praful Hinge?
Born on January 18, 2002, Hinge is an emerging bowler from Vidarbha who has been a part of the side’s U-19 team and made his debut for the senior team back in 2024. He was spotted by former Indian pacer Varun Aaron and trained under him at the MRF Pace Academy. Before the match against RR, Hinge has played just 1 T20 with 1 wicket to his name, while he has 27 wickets from 10 first-class matches and 5 wickets from 6 List A matches. He was bought for Rs 30 lakh in the IPL 2026 mini-auction and looks like a gem of a find for the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Hinge’s first IPL victim was the explosive Vaibhav Sooryvanshi who was dismissed for his first-ever golden duck in the IPL. The explosive opener got caught out right off the second delivery of the first over. The second wicket to fall was that of Dhruv Jurel, who was clean bowled by Praful two deliveries later. Another couple of balls later, the youngster picked up his third wicket in one over to create history as Lhuan-dre Pretorius was caught out by Nitish Kumar Reddy. Hinge was supposed to make his debut in the previous game but SRH changed their mind, keeping in mind the nature of the surface in Mullanpur.
There was no stopping Hinge as he got rid of RR captain Riyan Parag in the last ball of his second over, thereby bagging his fourth wicket. He now has the best bowling figures by an uncapped Indian, a Vidarbha bowler on debut in the IPL. Hinge has been working at the MRF Pace Academy since 2022. As per the commentators, he went to Brisbane for a camp in 2024 to work with the likes of Josh Hazlewood and Jhye Richardson.
