Cricket Australia on Wednesday announced the central contracts list for the women’s cricketers for the year 2026/27. Two new inclusions have been made, with Chole Ainsworth and Lucy Hamilton earning their maiden central contracts. Last month, the board had announced the central contracts for the men. 18 women cricketers have been included in the list of central contracts for the upcoming year.

Nicola Carey was handed an upgrade during the series against West Indies and has now been named a part of the central contracts. As per reports, players who don’t have a central contract can earn one or get upgrades like how Carey did with their performances. Among the notable exclusions are that of Tayla Vlaeminck and Tess Flintoff
“It’s exciting to see Lucy Hamilton and Chloe Ainsworth earn their first national contracts, which is a testament to the impact and talent they’ve showed at domestic level, while Nicola Carey retains her recent upgrade after some strong performances over the last two series,” Cricket Australia’s Head of Performance (Women’s Cricket) and National Selector, Shawn Flegler said. “While Tayla and Tess aren’t on the list this year, we’ll continue to support their development and they are both very much still in contention for selection.”
Australia women’s first important assignment this year will be the T20 World Cup which will be played in England. Then, they will take on Bangladesh in a three-match ODI and T20I series in October. They will then lock horns with New Zealand women’s cricket team in February 2027.
