Defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), continued their winning run in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 as they defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 43 runs at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 5. While the Super Kings were in the game until the 13th over, Sarfaraz Khan’s well-made 50 went in vain after they failed to chase the 251-run target. Despite the loss, the young batter grabbed the attention of the entire crowd and superbly Virat Kohli acknowledged his former teammate as well.
In one of the videos going viral on social media, Sarfaraz took the field after Ayush Mhatre’s dismissal in the second over. He scored a 25-ball 50, including 8 fours and two sixes at a strike rate of 200.00, but eventually fell to a brilliant stumping effort by Jitesh Sharma. But soon after his dismissal, as he walked towards the pavilion, he was stopped by Virat Kohli – who whistled and lauded his knock with a clap.
RCB dominate CSK at Chinnaswamy
Speaking of the game, Ruturaj Gaikwad-led CSK won the toss and opted to bowl first. As a result, the home team was put to bat first and posted 250/3 in their stipulated 20 overs, courtesy and unbeaten 70 from Tim David, 50 from Devdutt Padikkal and crucial 45-plus runs contributions from Phil Salt (46) and Rajat Patidar (48*). In reply, the Yellow Army, who were searching for their first win in IPL 2026, were once again handed a defeat after failing to chase the 251-run target.
Brilliant bowling from RCB bowlers, including a three-fer from Bhuvneshwar Kumar, helped them restrict the visitors to 207/10 in 19.4 overs, thus handing them a 43-run defeat.
With a comprehensive win, RCB displaced Rajasthan Royals (RR) to seal the top spot, CSK continue to reel at the rock bottom.
