Due to a back niggle, Shubman Gill won't be able to take the field in Ahmedabad.

Shubman Gill, Gujarat Titans (GT) captain, won’t be taking the field against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The 26-year-old has picked up a niggle in between matches after losing to the Punjab Kings on March 31.

Kumar Kushagra to replace injured Shubman Gill

As a result, Rashid Khan will take over as GT’s stand-in captain. The Afghanistani all-rounder informed about Gill’s absence after Riyan Parag, RR’s captain, decided to bat first in Ahmedabad.

Rashid shared that Kumar Kushagra will open alongside Sai Sudharsan. Kushagra has already featured in the Indian Premier League (IPL), having played 4 matches for the Delhi Capitals in 2024.

“Gill has a muscle spasm. Hopefully, he will be back soon,” Rashid said at the toss. “KK (Kumar Kushagra) is playing his first game, and I look forward to seeing him play,” he added.

The other change Gujarat has made is moving Shahrukh Khan to the impact substitutes list. Since Rajasthan will bat first, they’ve decided to include Prasidh Krishna in the starting team, and he’ll most likely be out when they chase.

Ravi Bishnoi & Brijesh Sharma dropped?

Meanwhile, RR has also made two changes to their team. Despite beating the Chennai Super Kings comprehensively, Rajasthan have chosen to bench Ravi Bishnoi and Brijesh Sharma. Both have been included in the subs list, with Donovon Ferreira and Tushar Deshpande being brought in. This means that only one of Bishnoi or Brijesh will play in the game.
