While the exact moment of the incident is not known, but in the videos, the fans were seen engaging into heated altercation, which further turned into a fistfight.

On Tuesday, April 1, the Delhi Capitals (DC) reigned supreme over the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), registering 6-wicket win at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. While the game had its moments, the stands at the venue also hogged limelight after an ugly fight took place between the fans of the two franchises. While the match got intense on the field, a physical fight broke out in the stands.

However, the exact moment of the incident is not known, but in the videos going viral, the fans were seen engaging in a heated altercation, turning into a fistfight. But as the fight intensified, security personnel and police officials stepped in to separate the two groups and helped de-escalate the situation. Notably, this isn’t the first instance, as fans have often emerged getting into a heated brawl during several cricket matches.

Sameer Rizvi, Tristan Stubbs help DC chase low total vs LSG

Speaking of Match 5 of IPL 2026, Axar Patel-led DC had won the toss and invited LSG to put the score first on the board. After a decent start from Mitchell Marsh, who played a 28-ball 35, the Lucknow based franchise was seen struggling with wickets falling at quick intervals. But Abdul Samad’s 25-ball 36 did prove crucial before DC reduced LSG at 141/10 in 18.4 overs, courtesy three-wicket hauls from Lungi Ngidi and T Natarajan and two wickets from Kuldeep Yadav.

In reply, with a low score on board, DC suffered early blows as neither of the openers could get going. While Nitish Rana scored 15 runs, Sameer Rizvi stole the spotlight with his 47-ball 70* and helped the side over the line along with Tristan Stubbs’ unbeaten 39. The DC chased the total in 17.1 overs and registered the joint-most successive wins (5) against a franchise.

The Capitals will look to continue this run as they next take on Mumbai Indians (MI) on April 4 in Delhi. Meanwhile, LSG will take on SRH in an afternoon game on April 5 in Hyderabad.
