The sale of Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has been completed ahead of the IPL 2026 and both franchises now have a new set of owners. With just days left for the marquee tournament to begin, teams are finalizing on the squad and replacements while also making announcements on leadership decisions and player availability. New owners for RR, RCB
RCB is all set to be bought by a consortium of Kumar Mangalam’s Aditya Birla Group, Blackstone, and David Blitzer’s Bolt Ventures, as reported by Bloomberg. RR have become the first fully foreign-owned IPL franchise. The process of sale for the inaugural champions had been underway for the last 6 months. A consortium led by US-based entrepreneur Kal Somani, who is a minority stakeholder, has bought the franchise for $1.63 billion. Read more here.

Ben Duckett banned
Ben Duckett has left DC in the ditch. The southpaw opener from England was picked up for Rs 2 crore at the IPL 2026 auction, marking his first stint in the cash-rich tournament. As a result, Duckett will be banned from the IPL for 2 seasons. Read more here.
