The Indian team will enter the field as the T20 World Cup 2026 champions for the first time in June. After becoming the first team to defend their T20 World Cup crown, that too, at home, the Suryakumar Yadav-led side will turn up for two T20Is against Ireland on June 26 and 28. While the fixtures were confirmed by Cricket Ireland on Friday, the BCCI has revealed the timings. Both the games will start at 7:30 PM IST (3:00 PM Local) to cater to the large Indian audience.
Both the T20Is will be played in the historic city of Belfast. This series will be the first T20I rubber for India after the T20 World Cup and the IPL 2026. Following the Indian Premier League, the national team will host a home series against Afghanistan that includes a one-off Test and three ODIs.
Previously, India weren’t supposed to play Ireland but since they were scheduled to tour England from July 1, the BCCI and Ireland organised a short tour to boost the latter’s revenue. With India bringing in the biggest audience in cricket, opposition teams benefit the most playing against the Men in Blue. Similarly, Ireland don’t want to miss out on this opportunity. Interestingly, India and Ireland last played each other at the T20 World Cup 2024 in New York.
