The final verdict on Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) eligibility to host their home matches at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium will be announced on March 16.
Bengaluru is set to host the opening match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season between RCB and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) as per the schedule announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Bengaluru unconfirmed for IPL 2026 opener
Earlier today, the Expert Committee constituted by the Government of Karnataka held a meeting with the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA). Full-scale mock demonstrations of match-day arrangements were made by the KSCA as part of the initiative to make M Chinnaswamy Stadium safe for mass gatherings. KSCA confirmed that discussions went well, and the final decision will be announced on March 16.
“During the meeting, KSCA made a detailed presentation on the infrastructural upgradations / arrangements and safety measures undertaken at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, in line with the recommendations of the Expert Committee that are to be implemented under Phase-I of the compliance framework.
Representatives of RCB and their associated operational agencies also presented their preparedness and operational plans for the smooth and orderly conduct of the upcoming IPL matches. The discussions were constructive and positive, and all stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring that the matches can be conducted in a safe, well-regulated, and seamless manner.
