In what can be termed as the worst possible start for KKR for IPL 2026, their star pacer Harshit Rana has been ruled out of the tournament due to an injury. The youngster had suffered the injury during a warm-up match during the T20 World Cup a month back, and will not be able to recover in time for the T20 tournament.

The news has come in a few hours after Zimbabwe pacer Blessing Muzarabani was officially brought into the side on Friday. The 6’8 pacer was due to play PSL 2026, for Islamabad United, but decided to give it a miss for IPL. Earlier, he had been a part of RCB as well, but was not retained by the team.

It remains to be seen, if the KKR management will go ahead and name another replacement for Harshit Rana, or will be settled in their current bunch of resources. They have the likes of Vaibhav Arora, Pathirana, Kartik Tyagi, Umran Malik, and Akash Deep in their ranks already.
There might be a few fitness concerns with the mentioned pacers though. In the last few years, Harshit had emerged as a bankable bowler for the team, having bagged 40 wickets in 34 games for them. His strike rate of 16 is what really stood out. Now, he would like to be fit for international assignments post IPL.
