IND vs AUS: Australia were too good for Team India, as they posted 409 on the board, and ensured the opposition was bowled out for 224.

There is no team quite like the Australian women’s cricket team. Barring that rare defeat to India in the semis of the Women’s World Cup last year, it looks impossible to get the better of them in the ODI format. On Sunday, in Alyssa Healy’s farewell match, they pulverized the visitors by a massive 185 runs, to take the series 0-3.

No stopping Alyssa Healy, Australia

In that, the former AUS skipper powered her way through 158 in only 98 deliveries, sending a strong message to the teams world over; that she is only quitting on her own terms. Her innings included 27 fours and 2 sixes, with AUS powering their way to 409. In contrast, IND were bundled out for only 224, going down without any fight.

There were major contributions from Beth Mooney, who too scored a ton, while Georgia Voll scored 60-odd. The Target was never meant to be achieved, but it was just the question of, how far could Harmanpreet Kaur’s team could go. And they disappointed big time.

India lose series 0-3

Batting at no. 9, Sneh Rana came up with a top score of 44. Jemimah Rodrigues got 42 as well; rest there wasn’t much to talk about. In bowling, Shree Charani did score a ton, and ended up giving 106 runs on the day. Deepti Sharma gave away 90 runs, while Kashvee Gautam gave away 83.

All-in-all, the great Australian team extended their head-to-head record vs India to 50-12 in ODIs. Nothing else would have served as a better farewell for Healy, who preferred batting against Harman’s side. Out of her 3777 career runs, she ended up scoring 971 vs India alone, including 3 tons, at an average of 46.

Now, after the ODI series, and the T20I series — that IND won, the caravan will move to Perth for the one-off Test, which begins on March 6.
