Amazon Prime’s God of War series first look sparks mixed reactions as fans compare Atreus to Hasbulla and question Kratos Look.

The internet is losing its mind at the moment because of the God of War series first look. What was supposed to be a moment of hype for the Amazon Prime Video series is now a goldmine of memes and disappointed Reddit threads. Although the wait for the live-action series featuring Kratos and Atreus has been a long one, the reveal is leaving people wondering if the casting department knew what the assignment was.

God of War Series First Look and The Hasbulla Comparison

The most ‘viral’ part of the reveal, however, isn’t the environment or the lore, it’s Atreus’ face. Social media like X(formar Twitter) and Reddit have been flooded with images comparing the young actor to the internet sensation Hasbulla.

Fans were expecting a rugged survivalist version of ‘Boy,’ but instead, the live-action Atreus looks a little too similar to the miniature MMA star, making it difficult for the community to take the show’s tone seriously.

Fans are not Happy with Kratos Look Either

It’s not just Atreus who’s getting roasted. The image shows Ryan Hurst as Kratos standing in front of a tree. The problem for PlayStation gamers is that Kratos looks way too clean.

In the PlayStation game God of War version, Kratos is a battle-worn warrior covered in ash and scars. In this first look, however, he looks as if he just stepped out of a costume trailer. The complaints generally fall into three categories:

  • The armor looks like plastic rather than weathered leather and metal.
  • Players are disappointed that he doesn’t have the rugged, dirty texture of a man living in the Norse wilderness.
  • The lighting feels artificial, making the set look more like a stage than the Midgard we know.

While the complaints may seem harsh, it is worth noting that Amazon has a lot of time to make adjustments to the “clean” look of Kratos in post-production before the series is actually released.
