A heated incident took place out in the middle on Wednesday when Jammu and Kashmir batter Paras Dogra headbutted a Karnataka fielder amid the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2025/26 final in Hubbali. J&K, who are playing their first final of the domestic tournament, are batting first in the contest. The incident prompted the umpires to intervene while an unhappy Mayank Agarwal and Karnataka captain Devdutt Padikkal were also involved in a heated discussion with the officials.

Paras Dogra headbutts Karnataka fielder

The incident occurred in the 101st over of J&K’s innings after Dogra fended a delivery off Prasidh Krishna for a boundary. Videos of the incident show the J&K veteran storming to KV Aneesh – who was the fielder at forward short leg- and headbutting him after a few words were exchanged between the duo. Senior Karnataka player and former captain Mayank Agarwal was the first to intervene and had a word with the umpires, clearly unhappy with the incident. A little while after Karnataka skipper Padikkal was also seen talking to the umpires.

Following the incident, KL Rahul – who was stationed at the slip cordon – unleashed a barrage of taunts aimed at the J&K batter, with other players joining him as well. Shortly after the headbutt incident, another tiff took place, this time between Kanhaiya Wadhwan and Karnataka pacer Vijaykumar Vyshak. The batter’s elbow brushed the bowler while he attempted to take a single. Both players had an intense stare down and the umpires were once again forced to intervene and bring things under control.

At the time of publishing this copy, J&K reached 380/4 at lunch on Day 2, with the partnership between Dogra and Wadhwan worth 73 runs. Paras is batting on 36 off 112 deliveries while his partner is currently on 45 off 71 balls.
