IPL 2026: GT have already begun their preparations for the upcoming season, with Shubman Gill training in Rajasthan.

After being overlooked for the T20 World Cup 2026, GT skipper Shubman Gill has begun preparations for IPL 2026, that is due to start on March 26. The captain was joined by his opening partner for the franchise, Sai Sudharsan, who had been out injured for majority of the Indian domestic season.

GT begin preparation for IPL 2026

The practice session for the team began at the Miraj International Stadium, Nathdwara, with around 40 days to go for the new season to start. Also, veteran pacer was seen practicing with the team, under the watchful eyes of head coach Ashish Nehra. GT meanwhile had a good run in IPL 2025 and had finished third in the points table.

Shubman Gill & Sai Sudharsan in action

While Sai Sudharsan finished with the orange cap after scoring 759 runs, Prasidh Krishna ended the season as the purple cap holder, with 25 scalps to his name. The team has already one title to their name, and would like to add another one to their cabinet.

This year, at the IPL Auction 2026, they bought players like Jason Holder, Luke Wood and Tom Banton, while retaining the core of the side, in players like Rashid Khan, Jos Butler, and Kagiso Rabada.
