KL Rahul returns to Ranji with a fifty
On his Ranji Trophy return, KL Rahul ended up as Karnataka’s highest scorer. The opener was the only batter to register a half-century against Punjab in Mohali. Harpreet Brar the better of Rahul with a ripper as he walked back for 59. Meanwhile, captain Devdutt Padikkal fell for just 9. Karnataka still has 4 wickets in hand and trails by 54 runs with Kruthik Krishna and Vidyadhar Patil in the middle.
Siddhesh Lad puts Mumbai on top
Another captain’s knock for Mumbai’s Siddhesh Lad. The stand-in skipper had struck a century against Hyderabad as Mumbai won by 9 wickets and followed that up with another hundred against Delhi. Mumbai was in trouble early on, as their top order scored 17 runs combined. Musheer Khan‘s fifty and Siddesh’s unbeaten 102-run knock saved them. Delhi is way behind in the game, with Mumbai gaining a 45-run lead and 5 wickets still in hand.
Bowler’s day out in Rohtak, Nagpur
Bengal’s bowlers Akash Deep and Shahbaz Ahmed made light work of Haryana batters. The right-arm pacer and left-arm spinner claimed all 10 wickets in the first innings and dismissed Haryana for just 100 runs in Rohtak. Bengal is 134/3 at the end of the day and has gained a 227-run lead.
Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s pick Shivam Mavi dismantled Vidarbha in Nagpur. The right-arm pacer helped Uttar Pradesh claim parity in the match. His 7-wicket haul meant that both teams scored 237 runs in the first innings. In case of a draw, Vidarbha won’t gain more points than them. Mavi claimed the wickets of Vidarbha’s top five and returned to end the innings. UP need a win to contend for a quarterfinal spot from Group A.
