The 2025-26 season of the Big Bash League (BBL) has finally come to conclusion with the Perth Scorchers lifting their record sixth title. Coming into the season after a dismal outing last season, the Scorchers beat Sydney Sixers by 6 wickets to take the silverware at the Perth Stadium in Perth on Sunday, January 25.
For the unversed, Ashton Turner-led Scorchers won the toss and elected to bowl first. As a result, the Sixers were put to bat first where they 132 runs in their stipulated overs. For the Sixers, Steven Smith, Josh Phillippe and skipper Moises Henriques put 24 runs each, but three wickets apiece from Jhye Richardson and David Payne helped the Scorchers put the Sixers under control.
Mitchell Marsh & Finn Allen help Perth Scorchers seal win
In reply to Sixers’133 run-target, Mitchell Marsh and Finn Allen gave a quick start at the top of the order, stitching 80-run opening stand for the first wicket. While Mitchell Marsh played a 43-ball 44 at a strike rate of 102.33, Finn Allen struck a 36 off 22 deliveries. However, the skipper could not stay long in the middle, wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis thereafter helped the side to a convincing victory with his unbeaten 29 and with 15 balls to spare.
The win for the Scorchers once again proves the domination the franchise has on the league. With another title to their name, the Scorchers are undoubtedly the most successful side in the T20 franchise league.
