Following the ongoing Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026, the current women’s ODI champions will be in action in a high-profile series. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side is set to tour Australia Down Under, with three T20Is, as many ODIs and a one-off Test match scheduled to take place. While the squads for the white-ball series were named last week, the BCCI has recently announced the women’s team’s Test squad for the only Test in Perth.
Strong India women’s Test team announced
The Indian women’s team, who played just one Test in 2024 and none last year, have three potential Tests lined up in 2026. The first is obviously the toughest as they face a strong Australian side in Perth, starting March 6. However, to script their maiden Test win in Australia, the BCCI has named a superb Test team. Largely the ODI core remains the same, with just Pratika Rawal and Sayali Satghare replacing Shree Charani and Kashvee Gautam.
Pratika Rawal is an interesting choice since she wasn’t part of any of the white-ball team named last week. As we all know, Rawal sustained a hairline fracture in her right ankle and also injured her knee while fielding in the final group-stage match against Bangladesh. She was officially ruled out of the rest of the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup tournament and replaced in the squad by Shafali Verma.
Due to this, she was denied the victory gold medal as well until Jay Shah personally intervened and sent her a deserving medal. Rawal scored 308 runs in that tournament and the management feels that she will be completely fine when the Test match kicks on against Australia. Rawal is missing the WPL 2026 as well despite getting picked up by the UP Warriorz at the mega auction.
