The BCCI is all set to announce the Central Contracts for the senior men’s team for 2026/27 in a few days, amid the IND vs NZ T20I series which commences from Wednesday. A total of 34 cricketers bagged the prestigious contract in the previous year, spread across four categories – A+, A, B and C. Unverified reports have claimed that the BCCI could do away with the top category, which means there will only be three slabs.
A host of stars are expected to find themselves snubbed from the BCCI central contracts for 2026/27 as they hardly featured for India in the past year. Barring a few new entrants, some of the existing players may also earn promotions. It remains to be seen how the veteran trio of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja will be treated – given that they are limited to one format.
