The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) continues to discuss matters with the ICC regarding the T20 World Cup 2026. Australia and South Africa have been dealt injury blows. Shubman Gill and Ravindra Jadeja will play domestic cricket. PCB is modelling PSL like IPL. And for how long should Virat Kohli play international cricket?

Bangladesh out, Scotland in?
Earlier in the day, it came out that the ICC has issued the BCB an ultimatum to decide on changing their stance on relocating their T20 World Cup matches. However, the BCB has denied receiving such a directive from the ICC. One thing the BCB didn’t refute was the ICC’s threat to Bangladesh about replacing them with Scotland.

Kohli won’t retire anytime soon?
How long should Virat Kohli play? If you ask Sunil Gavaskar, Kohli should continue playing for 6 or 7 more years. After Kohli’s excellent display against New Zealand, the former India opener expressed a desire to see the veteran batter play until he was 44 or 45.

No support to Bangladesh from Pakistan
In solidarity with BCB, the PCB had also decided to withdraw from the T20 World Cup if Bangladesh’s matches weren’t moved out of India. At least, that’s what the reports suggested. But the PCB has categorically denied making any such decision and will let the ICC deal with the scenario.

Gill to play Ranji
Shubman Gill and Ravindra Jadeja won’t be taking a break. Part of India’s ODI series defeat to New Zealand, the duo will join Punjab and Saurashtra as the second leg of the Ranji Trophy commences on January 22. Gill and Jadeja are expected to join their teams by January 20.

Injury trouble for Australia & South Africa
Injuries will mar the T20 World Cup. Pat Cummins, in all likelihood, will miss all four of Australia’s group-stage matches. But Josh Hazlewood and Tim David are expected to be fit for selection. South African all-rounder Donovan Ferreira has sustained a shoulder fracture during SA20 and could miss the entire ICC tournament.

PCB copies BCCI
The PCB has eliminated the draft system and will adopt an IPL-like auction system, effective from the PSL 2026 auction. Each franchise is expected to have a purse of around INR 14.45 crore and is allowed to retain 4 players. However, Right to Match (RTM) cards won’t be used.
