Washington Sundar injury update

Washington Sundar’s injury is much more serious than initially expected. The all-rounder had sustained a side strain injury and was ruled out of the ODI series. But that won’t be all. Sundar won’t feature in the T20I series either. By the end of the week, the all-rounder will check into the Centre of Excellence (CoE) for rehabilitation.

Nitish Reddy criticised

The Indian management isn’t pleased with Nitish Kumar Reddy’s performance. Assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate claimed the all-rounder hasn’t done ‘a heck of a lot’ whenever given the opportunities and hasn’t presented a good case for his future selection. Meanwhile, Aakash Chopra and Robin Uthappa backed Nitish to come good with some perseverance.

New ‘Super Giants’

The Manchester Originals have been officially renamed as the Manchester Super Giants. Last year, the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group acquired a 70% stake in the Hundred franchise. While announcing the name change, MSG also confirmed signing Smriti Mandhana, Meg Lanning, and Sophie Ecclestone for the women’s team and continuing with Jos Buttler, Heinrich Klaasen, Liam Dawson, and Noor Ahmad with the men’s team.

Mhatre & Co. win

India Under-19 have commenced their Men’s Under-19 ODI World Cup campaign with a victory. In a rain-hit affair in Bulawayo, the Men in Blue skittled the USA for just 107. The chase didn’t start well for India as Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Ayush Mhatre, and Vedant Trivedi departed in 5.2 overs. But India chased down the reduced target of 96 in just 17.2 overs.
