SA20 2025-26 playoffs qualification scenarios

Pretoria Capitals

After securing a comfortable 53-run win against defending champions, MI Cape Town on Monday, January 12, the Pretoria Capitals jumped to the top of the points table. While the Capitals are more or less on the verge of qualifying for the playoffs, but in order to consolidate their position in the top two, they would look to win both their remaining games and hope either the Paarl Royals or Sunrisers Eastern Cape loses one of their matches. They would also look for Joburg Super Kings not earn any bonus points despite securing a win in all three remaining matches of theirs.

Sunrisers Eastern Cape

The two-time champions, Sunrisers Eastern Cape are currently placed second on the points table, having won three games from seven matches. With three more league stage fixtures left for them, a win in all three without a bonus point will assure them a top-two finish.

Joburg Super Kings

Joburg Super Kings have played seven games thus far and have come out victorious on three occasions, bagging 17 points. Currently occupying the third place and three more matches left for them, they should secure a win in all three games in order to finish at the top two.

Paarl Royals

The Rajasthan Royals-owned outfit, Paarl Royals, currently are positioned fourth on the points table with wins in three games from six matches. Already securing 15 points under their belt and four matches still left, Paarl Royals would look to secure a win in all of them, which could take them at the top two.

Durban’s Super Giants

The Durban’s Super Giants are reeling in the bottom half with only two victories in eight matches that they have played. However, their chances to make to the playoffs are comparatively low, but a win in their remaining league stage fixtures, along with a wait of other teams’ results is what they would look to get their way.

MI Cape Town

The reigning SA20 champions, MI Cape Town are having a forgettable season this year. After being able to win only two of their eight games so far, their chances of making to the playoffs look bleak, but they would heavily rely on other teams’ results along with securing a win in their remaining two matches.
