With white-ball cricket on the rise, scoring runs at a brisk rate has been the key ask of the format. While getting to 200 in T20 is considered great, getting past 300-350 runs in ODIs is not a tough one either these days. A similar stance was seen in the first ODI, which was played between India and New Zealand in Vadodara on Sunday, January 11. After being put to a 301-run target by New Zealand, on the back of a 91-ball 93 from Virat Kohli and 56 from Shubman Gill, the Men in Blue chased the total comfortably with an over to spare.

While Virat Kohli stole the show with his knock, which also saw him get past 28000 runs in international cricket, the Indian team also achieved a feat, becoming the team with the most 300-plus run-chases in ODIs. Chasing the target in 49 runs, Team India achieved this feat for the 20th time in the 50-over format.
