The 15th edition of the prestigious Big Bash League (BBL) is currently underway with the Hobart Hurricanes aiming to defend the title. While the league stands at halfway mark with a mixed season so far for majority of the franchises. But with the race to the playoffs getting intense with each passing day, like every other season, several players have stood up for their respective franchises. With batters putting a show with their willow, the bowlers have also stood up, bringing their top game.

List of players to take most wickets in BBL history
- 5. Kane Richardson
A regular in the BBL setup, having played for three franchises so far, Kane Richardson has also made to the list of highest wicket-takers. Having taken 142 wickets so far across 15 seasons, Richardson achieved this feat in as many as 118 matches (as of writing) at an economy of 7.87. He is currently playing for the Syndey Sixers.

The 35-year-old Aussie bowler, Jason Behrendorff, who came into prominence for a new-ball specialist, has been a vital cog in Perth Scorchers’ multiple title-winning campaigns. Having played 11 seasons of the T20 tournament, majorly for the Perth Scorchers, the left-arm fast medium bowler has taken 145 wickets in 113 games at an economy of 7.11 and sits at the fourth highest wicket-taker at the moment.

Benjamin James Dwarshuis, the 31-year-old left-arm fast bowler has also made himself to the list of highest wicket-takers, having picked 159 wickets across the 12 seasons he has played in. Featuring in the Sydney Sixers colours since his debut in BBL 2014-15, Dwarshuis has taken 159 wickets in 124 matches at an economy of 8.13.

39-year-old Andrew Tye has been a valuable asset in the BBL, especially because of his ability to bowl knuckleball. Having played for three different BBL franchises since his debut in 2013-14 season, Tye has scalped 162 wickets so far in 119 matches, conceding 3372 runs.

Sydney Sixers’ 33-year-old bowling all-rounder, Sean Abbott is the leading wicket-taker in the BBL history, having picked up 181 wickets across his stint from 2011 till 2026. Having played the opening two seasons with Sydney Thunder, followed by making a regular appearance in the Sydney Sixers colours until now, Abbott has conceded 3626 runs in 128 matches at an economy of 8.40.
