WATCH: Beau Webster takes dig at Pat Cummins following 4-1 Ashes victory

The remarks from Beau Webster came follow Australia's 4-1 triumph in the recently concluded Ashes series.

On Thursday, January 8, Australia claimed the Ashes 2025-26 series by 4-1 margin following their five-wicket win in the fifth Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney. A 62-run opening stand between Travis Head and Jake Weatherald laid the foundation whereas Alex Carey and Cameron Green finally got them over the line on the final day.

While Travis Head and pace spearhead Mitchell Starc stole the show, Beau Webster, who was included in the XI in place of Mitchell Marsh for the final Test, also proved pivotal as he picked up three wickets and scored unbeaten 71 runs. Following the win, Webster was seen taking a dig at regular Test captain Pat Cummins, who was a key absentee as he continues to recover fully from the back injury.

Despite his absence, Cummins grabbed the eyeballs as he was seen in full whites at the post-series ceremony.

Beau Webster takes jibe at Pat Cummins over “full whites” after Ashes win at SCG

Despite not taking part in the Sydney Test, Cummins was spotted in Test whites as he was joined by stand-in skipper Steven Smith and the entire Australian cricket team for the presentation ceremony on Thursday, January 8. Recalling the incident in conversation with The Grade Cricketer, Beau Webster took a cheeky dig at Cummins for his full whites.

When asked, “Any commentary, slug on Pat in full whites to receive the replica urn?”, Webster laughing replied, “I think it still had the tag on it. Didn’t it? Those shirts, because he certainly didn’t run any drinks throughout the five days.” The Aussie all-rounder further joked and added, “Patty was too busy in the comm box. I think someone said to him, ‘I think it might have even been Ingo said F### Hell, Patty, I think they’ve still got the tag on it, those whites.’ And he was like, yeah, I didn’t even know I had them for me. He just found them in his locker.

With a dominant win Down Under, the Australian team has certainly brushed aside the doubts raised following their Boxing Day Test defeat and also remain at the top of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 cycle points table with only one loss in eight matches, boasting of points percentage of 87.50.
